Is Privacy and Illusion – Followup

If you’re not yet concerned about what information is available about you online, you probably ought to read this article in the Wall Street Journal, “Scrapers Dig Deep for Data on the Web.” (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703358504575544381288117888.html)

Data collection companies are creating accounts on private discussion boards and mining conversations for data to sell. Even posting anonymously may not be enough to protect you. If you link to a personal site or include private information in your profile, the “scrapers” can identify you. If you wouldn’t want your boss or your health insurance company or spouse or the government to link that post with your  name, you probably shouldn’t post it in the first place.
